Room notice

  • You must have a valid ASVZ membership to participate (note as ETH or UZH student you will automatically have that).

  • To enter the building you will have to register for the class and scan the QR code which you will receive after your participation is confirmed. It will appear here on this page below, once you have been confirmed.

  • Take a lock with you and store all your bags, jackets, etc. in a locker. You are not allowed to leave any luggage inside or in front of the room. Street shoes are not permitted in the room. Wear dance shoes, or socks if you don't have dance shoes (yet).

Description

In this musicality workshop, we will analyze the complexity of Cuban salsa music (timba) based on its fundamentals. We will listen to different instruments and learn the basic structure of the rhythms. In addition, we will practice adapting our dance style to the songs. Theory meets practical development for enjoyable and dynamic Cuban salsa dancing.

About this course

Each lesson we will take an in-depth look at one topic and practice it using short step combinations.

Recommended Level

This course is recommended for people with at about one year of Salsa dancing experience. If you learned dancing at Tanzquotient, this would mean that you've already completed Levels 1 - 4.

The body movement workshop was very interesting. In the normal courses we usually practice isolations during the warm up: only hips, only chest, only shoulders. It was surprisingly hard combining all those elements together! Leonor gave a lot of helpful individual feedback. I liked the course a lot and hope I can retain what I learned and apply it for the salsa basic step. My personal highlight were the skirts Leonor brought for the training! I was a bit overwhelmed trying to move everything at the same time, but the skirts were fun and I think they helped a bit to get into the right spirit and mindset.

I absolutely loved this reggaeton class! Leonor is an incredible teacher—she clearly knows her stuff, especially with her deep knowledge of Afro-Cuban dance. She broke down the movements in a super fun and approachable way, starting with the basics and then layering on complexity step by step. Her instructions were really clear and easy to follow, which made it so enjoyable. I’d totally recommend this course to anyone looking to dive into reggaeton with a skilled and passionate instructor!

Leonor clearly has a lot of experience with Salsa. The best part is that she does an amazing job passing on her knowledge and experience while also making the lesson fun and engaging.

Anaiise and Kai make one the most memorable classes I had in TQ, it's a lot of fun, great physical activity, figures I feel proud about doing, and want to use to show off. Some felt like rock'n'roll. They teach some very unique figures, and the ability to educate people so fast is impressive. I do highly recommend this class to everyone intersted in social dance as a life experience.

Kai and Ana are wonderful teachers. They introduced some really interesting figures in class and explained them clearly so everyone could follow along. They’re very talented dancers, and it’s always fun to watch them. Ana is so graceful! It’s so nice that they organize these extra courses!

Great one-time salsa course! It was super fun to learn lifts in a safe and supportive environment. The teachers gave clear guidance and made sure everyone felt confident. Highly recommended!

Anaise and Kai were great teachers, they explained everything really well and took their time to go around and help everyone with the lifts. I also really appreciated that they showed different options for the figures to make sure everyone was feeling comfortable.

Anaïse and Kai did an amazing job leading the „Lifts and Dips“ training. Initially the figure seemed very advanced but they prepared us well and showed full confidence and expertise in how to do it safely and correctly. I felt fully supported and in good hands throughout the training.

we got humiliated, our followers did more sit-ups than us, need to start a 10 year training arc now, but the teacher Kai has very broad manly boulder shoulders. 10/10 would recommend

Der Kurs war großartig! Die Lehrerin hat jeden Schritt der Figur einfach und verständlich erklärt. Danach haben wir alles zusammengefügt, was zu einer tollen und spaßigen Kombination geführt hat. Ich kann den Kurs jedem mit mittlerem bis fortgeschrittenem Niveau absolut empfehlen. Der perfekte Start ins Wochenende!

Very interesting course. The title "beyond Salsa" captures it well. You get introduced to other Cuban dance forms that you can integrate into your Salsa dancing.

Leonor and Ilya teach an excellent course. The transition from Salsa 2 to Salsa 3 is certainly not an easy one and the learning curve can be steep at times. However, Leonor and Ilya make it a piece of cake. They are always happy and eager to check your style, explain steps, or give tips to improve your musicality. I can't wait for Salsa 4!
